These are the best of the many Engage skills in Fire Emblem Engage.
Fire Emblem Engage has a lot of new ways to play. Engage Skills is one of these new game mechanics. It lets the player use a special skill when he or she is paired with a special Emblem character of their choice.
Engage Skills come in a huge variety, and each Engage unit has at least one Skill. Each character’s Skills are also unique to that character, so there is a huge amount of difference between them. On top of all this, some Engage units have special effects with their skills that can change how the skill works based on which unit you pair them with. Overall, it can be hard to know where to start when there is so much to remember and so many new Skills to try out.
Divine Speed (Marth)

Marth’s Divine Speed Emblem Skill is very useful and easy to understand. It gives the unit Marth is fighting with an extra attack that does 50% more damage to an enemy. That’s all there is to it, but it’s a very useful Skill when players need to quickly change the course of a fight.
When fighting Dragon units, Marth will also let the Dragon unit gain HP equal to the damage done by the extra attack. If the extra attack hits a Covert unit, it will also poison the enemy.
Laguz Friend (Ike)

Laguz Friend, Ike’s Fire Emblem Engage Skill, can take a little more time to set up than other Skills, both in the long run and in the short run. But when used with the right tools, it can be great. Laguz Friend will make the unit take 50% less damage, but it will also set the unit’s Avo to 0. This makes it great for tanky units like Diamant, Louis, and Vander, whose Avo is already at 0.
On top of that, Dragon-type units Ike is fighting with will take 10% less damage on top of the 50% bonus the Skill gives. Again, this Skill needs more planning and setting up, but in the right hands, it can be absolutely devastating. This is why it’s suggested for tanks who can take a hit and still do a lot of damage.
Adaptable (Leif)

The main reason why Leif’s Adaptable Emblem Skill is fun is that it has both an easy base effect and more complicated effects for each class. In its simplest form, Adaptable automates a small part of the battle for the player. When an enemy attacks the unit Leif is controlling, Adaptable makes sure that the unit responds with the best weapon for the situation, taking into account weapon advantage, effective bonuses, range, and other factors. But based on the unit’s class type, they may also get another benefit during battle.
Players can have a lot of fun figuring out how the boosts each class gets from Leif’s Emblem Skill work. In particular, here are the benefits each class type gets:
- Armored : Def+5
- Backup : Crit+10
- Covert : Avo+20
- Dragon : Hit+30
- Flying : Res+5
Dreadful Aura (Corrin)

Corrin is different from other Emblems because it has two Engage Skills that players can try out. Still, Dreadful Aura almost beats out Dragon Vein, if only because it is easier to use than the other Skill.
Dreadful Aura is a great way to keep track of enemy units on the map. When the unit Corrin is with attacks an enemy, the targeted enemy and all foes within one space of them can’t move for one turn. Think of it like the company moves in Fire Emblem Three Houses.
Instruct (Byleth)

When we talk about Three Houses, everyone’s favourite Professor’s Engage Skill, “Instruct,” is another fun and complicated Skill that can change a lot based on the class of the unit he’s working with.
At its most basic level, “Instruct” gives friends within two spaces of the user Byleth is working with a special stat bonus based on the type of user Byleth is working with. The special stat boost will then last for one full turn. The status bonus has a lot of different options that players can try out, and it affects more class types than Leif’s Adaptable does, which makes Byleth a very fun Emblem to try out.
Here is the long list of status perks:
- Armored: Def+5
- Backup: Str+4
- Cavalry: Dex+10
- Covert: Spd+5
- Flying: Res+5
- Mystical: Mag+4
- Qi Adept: Lck+10
- Dragon: The best of the group, with +3 to all seven stats.
Call Doubles (Lyn)

The Engage skill from Lyn is great for units that focus on Chain Attacks and will make them even better at what they do. When Lyn uses Call Doubles, he makes four copies of the unit around it. These copies act as distractions and help the unit fight. Chain Attacks that they start can also start from anywhere on the map.
On top of that, certain types of units will get more benefits: When a Flying unit doubles, its Avo increases by 10, and when a Dragon unit doubles, it gains a further double for a total of five doubles. This can make a good Skill completely useless, especially on units like Alear.
Divine Blessing (Tiki)

The Divine Blessing Engage Skill is easy to use and understand, and it shines because of how simple it is. Simply put, Tiki’s Divine Blessing lets a chosen friend get the benefits of a Revival Stone, which are usually only given to bosses of the enemy team.
This can give the chosen friend of the player a huge health boost and other benefits as well. For example, if the user who is currently using Tiki is in the same place as a unit that is currently using Marth, both Tiki and Marth will use their bond. By doing this, Divine Blessing becomes Spacebar Clicker. This means that the chosen friend will get a Revival Stone and their Engage Metre will go up by 3 if they are engaged with an emblem, or their HP will be fully restored. As with a lot of other Engage Skills, Tiki gets boosts based on the type of unit he is fighting. Dragon unit types heal a friend for 20 HP, while Qi Adept unit types heal all status effects on an ally.
The Nintendo Switch can now play Fire Emblem Engage.
